What information we collect
- Appointment requests: your name, mobile number, email address (if you give it), reason for visit, preferred date and time, payment method, and any message you add.
- Messages and calls: the information you share when you phone, email or WhatsApp the practice.
- Patient records: when you become a patient, we keep the medical and administrative information needed to care for you, as required by law and the HPCSA.
- Website use: this website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. The embedded map is provided by Google, which may collect information under its own privacy policy.
How the booking form works
The booking form doesn’t store your details on this website. When you send a request, it opens WhatsApp with your details written out, and nothing is sent until you press send. WhatsApp is operated by Meta and handles your message under its own privacy policy. Please don’t include detailed medical information in your request.
Why we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and book, confirm or change appointments
- To provide medical care and keep accurate clinical records
- To submit claims to your medical aid and manage accounts
- To meet our legal and professional obligations
We never sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for marketing without your consent.
Who we share it with
We only share your information when it’s needed for your care or required by law. This includes your medical aid, laboratories, specialists and hospitals involved in your care, and authorities where the law requires it.
How we protect it
Health information is special personal information under POPIA. We keep it confidential, limit access to people who need it, and use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect it. We keep records only for as long as the law and professional guidelines require.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy
- Ask us to correct or delete information that’s inaccurate or no longer needed, where the law allows
- Object to certain uses of your information
- Withdraw your consent where we rely on it
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za
To use any of these rights, email care@drterencemoodley.co.za.
